May 9 Tomar to Alvaiazere (once again in the pouring rain.)
It was a bit sad to leave the Uniao with its 25 or so fellow travelers.
In the breakfast room there is a headdress worn by women in a parade; a man follows behind to help hold up and balance this weighty ornament.
Took a bus part way as a 20 mile walk in pouring rain did not seem overly appealing.
Arrived in Alvaizere once more soaked through. Ate what seemed to be a wonderful dinner only to find myself in bed, to the bathroom, back to bed, in the bathroom, back to bed, in the bathroom for the next 18 hours. A taxi took me to Ansiao where I continued my bout of nausea and diarrhea until I purged my body.
We have heard it has been vey wet on the Portuguese Camino.
